Terms and Conditions for Rubbish Collection London
These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of rubbish collection services by Rubbish Collection London and set out the basis on which customers may book, receive, and pay for waste removal services. By making a booking, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these terms. These conditions apply to domestic and commercial customers unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.
In these terms, references to “we,” “us,” and “our” mean the service provider, and references to “you” or “the customer” mean the person or business requesting the rubbish collection service. The purpose of these terms is to provide a fair framework for service delivery, payment, and responsibilities relating to waste handling, while keeping compliance with UK law at the centre of the agreement.
We reserve the right to amend these terms from time to time. Any update will apply to future bookings and, where relevant, ongoing services. The version in force at the time of booking shall govern that particular service, unless a change is required by law. Continued use of our waste collection services after a change has been published will be treated as acceptance of the updated terms.
1. Booking Process
To arrange a rubbish collection, you must provide accurate and complete booking information. This includes the address where the waste is located, the nature and approximate quantity of items, access details, and any special handling requirements. The booking request is an offer to purchase services; acceptance only occurs when we confirm the booking. We may refuse or decline a booking where we cannot safely or lawfully carry out the work.
At the time of booking, you should describe the waste truthfully and as fully as possible. If the material differs from the description provided, we may adjust the price, alter the service scope, or decline collection. This is especially important where items may be heavy, hazardous, restricted, or difficult to access. A transparent booking process helps us deliver an efficient rubbish removal service and avoid unnecessary delays on site.
You are responsible for ensuring that someone authorised is present at the collection address if access or confirmation is required. Where parking, permits, building entry, lift use, or time-limited access are necessary, you must arrange these in advance unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. Failure to secure suitable access may result in waiting charges, abortive visit charges, or a need to reschedule the rubbish collection.
2. Service Scope and Customer Responsibilities
The scope of each rubbish collection service is limited to the items agreed at booking and to the access conditions described at the time of confirmation. We are not obliged to remove additional waste that was not declared, and we may refuse items that present a safety, legal, or operational issue. If an item is unusually bulky, contaminated, or requires specialist treatment, we may recommend a separate arrangement or decline the removal entirely.
You must ensure that the waste placed for collection is legally owned by you or that you have the authority to dispose of it. You should not include items belonging to third parties unless you have permission to do so. Where relevant, you must remove valuables, personal documents, cash, data storage devices, and any items you wish to keep before the collection begins. We do not accept responsibility for items left among the waste unless damage or loss is caused by our negligence.
It is your responsibility to provide safe working conditions. This includes keeping children and pets away from the work area, preventing access to dangerous substances, and warning us of hidden hazards such as sharp objects, structural instability, mould, asbestos, or biological contamination. If we identify a risk that is not reasonably manageable, we may suspend the service and leave the site for safety reasons.
3. Pricing and Payments
Prices may be quoted on the basis of volume, weight, item type, labour required, access difficulty, and any special disposal fees. Unless stated otherwise, all prices are exclusive of VAT where VAT applies. Any estimate provided before arrival is based on the information supplied by you and may change if the actual waste differs materially from that description. A revised price will be offered where necessary before work proceeds.
Payment terms will be confirmed during booking or on the invoice. We may require full or partial payment in advance, or payment on completion. Accepted payment methods may vary, but any method agreed must be completed in full without deduction or set-off unless required by law. If payment is declined, delayed, reversed, or disputed without valid reason, we may suspend service, refuse future bookings, or pursue recovery of the outstanding balance.
Where a quote is based on a minimum load or a specified service window, the customer acknowledges that actual work may differ from the initial assumption. Additional charges may apply for extra labour, restricted access, waiting time, parking costs, disposal of prohibited items, or the need for a second vehicle. We will aim to explain any such adjustment clearly before the collection is completed.
4. Cancellations, Changes, and Missed Appointments
You may cancel or amend a booking by giving reasonable notice before the agreed collection time. Cancellations made within a short notice period may attract a cancellation fee to cover scheduling, travel, or administrative costs. The precise charge, if any, will depend on the stage of preparation and whether staff or vehicles have already been allocated to your rubbish collection.
If you need to change the collection date, time, or service details, we will try to accommodate the request, but changes are subject to availability. Where a change affects the price or operational requirements, a revised quotation may be issued. If we arrive at the agreed time and are unable to complete the service because you are unavailable, the site is inaccessible, or the waste is not ready, this may be treated as a missed appointment and charged accordingly.
We may also cancel or postpone a booking where conditions are unsafe, unlawful, or beyond our reasonable control. This includes severe weather, vehicle breakdown, access issues, staff illness, or a risk that the waste contains prohibited materials. In such cases, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you and rearrange the rubbish collection. We will not be liable for indirect losses arising from a cancellation or delay caused by circumstances outside our control.
5. Waste Regulations and Prohibited Materials
All collections are carried out in accordance with applicable UK waste legislation, including duties relating to the proper transfer, transport, and disposal of waste. You must cooperate with us to ensure that any waste collected can be handled lawfully. We may ask questions about the origin, composition, and condition of the materials to determine whether the rubbish can be accepted and how it should be processed.
You must not present hazardous, illegal, or restricted items unless we have expressly agreed in advance and hold the appropriate permissions and arrangements. Prohibited or controlled waste may include asbestos, clinical waste, gas cylinders, solvents, chemicals, paint products, oils, fuel, batteries, pressurised containers, explosives, firearms, and any items contaminated in a way that creates a material risk. If such items are discovered, we may refuse collection, isolate the material, or require additional arrangements.
We may request evidence that waste has been stored, separated, or described correctly. You acknowledge that misuse of rubbish collection services, false descriptions, fly-tipping, or illegal disposal can create serious legal consequences. If we believe that a booking may involve unlawful conduct, we may decline or terminate the service and, where necessary, cooperate with authorities or authorised disposal partners in line with legal duties.
6. Liability and Limitations
We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill. However, liability is limited to losses directly caused by our proven negligence or breach of contract. We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, hidden defects, unsuitable access, or deterioration that occurs because items are inherently fragile, unstable, or improperly secured. Customers should take care to protect floors, walls, fixtures, and adjacent property before a collection takes place.
If damage occurs and we are at fault, our responsibility will be limited to repairing the damage or paying reasonable compensation up to the amount of the affected service charge, unless a greater liability cannot lawfully be excluded. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited under UK law.
We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, data loss, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of our rubbish collection services. Where items contain valuables, confidential information, or sentimental content, you are expected to remove them in advance. Any claim for damage or loss must be reported promptly and supported by sufficient detail to allow us to investigate properly.
7. Insurance, Risk, and Site Conditions
Risk in the waste transfers to us only when collection has been completed and the items have been accepted onto our vehicle or into our lawful custody. Until that point, the waste remains your responsibility. You are expected to ensure that the site is reasonably prepared and that the items can be handled safely. If waste is left in a communal area or near public access points before collection, you remain responsible for securing the area until the service is completed.
Where our team reasonably believes that a task presents an unacceptable risk, we may stop work, modify the method of collection, or ask that hazardous conditions are made safe first. Examples include blocked access routes, unstable stacks of materials, exposed sharps, leaking containers, or a presence of pests or contamination. A pause in work for safety does not amount to a breach of these terms.
We may maintain insurance appropriate to the service we provide, but the existence of insurance does not expand our contractual liability. The customer is encouraged to keep their own insurance in place where the collection involves valuable property, business premises, or shared buildings. Nothing in these terms requires us to assume responsibility for risks outside our control.
8. Complaints and Service Issues
If you have a concern about the rubbish collection service, you should raise it as soon as possible after the issue becomes apparent. Prompt notification helps us investigate the matter while the relevant facts remain available. Where appropriate, we may request photographs, written details, or other evidence so that the complaint can be reviewed fairly and efficiently.
We will aim to assess service issues in good faith and may offer a correction, a partial refund, or another reasonable remedy where justified by the circumstances. A complaint will not automatically entitle the customer to a refund unless there has been a breach of contract or a failure to provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in this section affects any rights you may have under UK consumer law.
9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms and any dispute or claim arising from them shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. If any matter cannot be resolved informally, the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory law provides otherwise. If the customer is based in Scotland or Northern Ireland and mandatory legal provisions apply, nothing in these terms removes those protections.
If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. Any failure by us to enforce a right or remedy immediately shall not waive that right or remedy. These terms form the entire agreement between the parties in relation to the rubbish collection service, except where a written variation has been agreed by both sides.
By booking a service with Rubbish Collection London, you confirm that you have authority to enter into this agreement and that the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge. You also acknowledge that lawful waste disposal depends on correct descriptions, safe access, and cooperation throughout the collection process.
